AJAC Names Honda Civic Hybrid the 2025 Canadian Car of the Year

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid, the electrified version of Canada's best-selling compact car, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Canadian Car of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). Honda Canada expressed its delight at receiving this honour.

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid, offered as a sedan or hatchback, is the most powerful non-Type R Civic yet, boasting an impressive 200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque.  Leading the refreshed Civic lineup, the Civic Hybrid delivers a fun driving experience while maintaining the efficiency of Honda's two-motor hybrid system.

“We remain impressed and humbled at the awards and accolades the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid is receiving, these distinctions are a result of our hardworking engineers and talented associates at Honda of Canada Mfg. who design and build the Civic,” said Emile Korkor, Assistant Vice President of Honda Canada. “The quality, reliability and popularity of our hybrid vehicles bodes well for the future of our brand as we continue to further electrify our models. We want to thank AJAC for this prestigious award and our Canadian customers for making Civic Canada’s bestselling car.”

The Honda Civic has been recognized as the best overall and best small car by AutoTrader in 2025. It also received the 2025 Car and Driver 10 Best award, and was named the 2025 Canadian Car of the Year and 2025 North American Car of the Year.
